Shri R Sarangapani (Vice Chairman)

Shri R Sarangapani is Executive Director (BD, IBD & Consultancy Wing), NTPC Limited. He is head of Business Development (both domestic and International) and also Consultancy Wing in NTPC Ltd. He is responsible for strategic decision making in both conventional as well as new, innovative and path breaking business opportunities for the organization.

He has around 33 years of experience in Engineering as well as O&M of power plants of various capacities.  Sarangapani was a topic leader and the only team member from India for preparation of IEC 62443-2-4 standard for Cybersecurity of Industrial Automation Systems.  He spearheaded a project for remote operation of a hydro power station and led the Digital Transformation team for preparing digital roadmap for NTPC. 

He conceived many first of its initiatives in NTPC like Advance Process Control (APC) and AR/VR for practical training, which are now running successfully. Developed a unique Digital Asset management software (named SARTHI) for predictive maintenance through in-house efforts of local IT & maintenance engineers at Khargone Power Project.

He holds a B.E (Control & Instrumentation) from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, MTech in Computer Science & also an alumnus of IIM, Lucknow.

He joined the Board of HURL on 4th November 2024 as Vice-Chairman  and Director. In addition, he is serving as Director on the Board of Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Ltd. (ASHVINI), Trincomalee Power Company Limited and National High Power Test Laboratory Pvt Ltd.
