Shri Sanjiv Singh (Chairman)
Chairman of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, country's flagship national oil company and highest ranked (161st) Indian corporate in the prestigious Fortune 'Global 500"' with business interests straddling the entire hydrocarbon value chain.
Indian Oil and its subsidiary, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited together own and operate 11 of India's 23 Refineries with a group refining capacity of 80.7 MMTPA.
Mr. Singh is also Director on the Board of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of IOCL.
He is also a member of Executive Committee of Petroleum Conservation Research Association, a Govt. of India body. He is also a member of Executive Committee of Centre for High Technology, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. Mr. Singh is also Member on the Board of Central Pollution Control Board.
As Director Refineries, Mr Singh was closely involved in Strategy formulation, Business Process Engineering, Major Projects implementation and Refinery operations. Under his able leadership, IOCL has successfully implemented mega Projects like PX/PTA (August 2006) with capex of Rs 5100 Crore, Panipat Naphtha Cracker Project (May 2010) with Capex of Rs. 14,439 Crore and Paradip Refinery Project (February,2016) with Capex of Rs. 34,555 Cr. He is the anchor person for the ongoing BS-IV and BS-VI Quality upgradation-Projects at various Refineries. IOCL has about Rs 66,666 Crore worth projects in hand at various stages, implementation of which is being monitored by Mr. Sanjiv Singh.
Mr Singh is known for his business acumen, innovative ideas and people centric leadership. He has been able to empower teams to perform and deliver exceptional results through positive engagement and shared vision.
He also holds the position of Member of Executive Body of SCOPE.
Before taking over as Chairman IOCL, he was Director (Refineries), IOCL, he was also positioned as Executive Director (In-Charge) at the Paradip Refinery Project in State of Odisha, a mega prestigious Rs 34,555 crore project.
Earlier, he headed the most modern refinery of the country at Panipat and was responsible for setting-up of Refinery, Naphtha Cracker and other downstream polymer units. Shri Singh played key role in the commissioning of Panipat Refinery, Para Xylene & PTA and India’s largest Naphtha Cracker which has ushered in a new era of industrial development in Haryana.
A graduate in Chemical Engineering from I.I.T. Roorkee, Shri Sanjiv Singh also acquired Diploma in Management and joined Indian Oil Corporation Limited in 1981 and has worked in various positions at Mathura, Barauni and Panipat Refineries. His services were also drawn by the Centre for High Technology, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Nigeria National Petroleum Company, Nigeria.
Mr. Singh had also been elected as FCC Panelist on American Fuel & Petrochemicals Manufacturers (AFPM) 2015 Q&A and Technology Forum (formerly NPRA).
Before becoming Chairman (IOCL), Mr. Singh was heading the Refineries Division of the largest refinery of the country - he strongly believes in strengthening the Refineries' operations by improving reliability with revamping / debottlenecking and modernisation of process units at low cost expansions with yield and profitability improvement projects. He also underlines the need to have technologies to process low cost crudes to enhance profitability. Indian refineries will have to benchmark with international best as in days ahead India will emerge as the 'Refining Hub', having surplus refining capacity, Shri Singh believes. He strongly supports commercialisation efforts of indigenous technologies and is leading many such ‘Firsts’ in IOCL Refineries.
Respected across the industry for his visionary acumen, technical knowledge, business dynamism and out of box creativity, Mr. Singh strongly feels that industry needs to develop and nurture leadership and promote excellence in order to draw full advantage of the emerging economy.
